On a recent motorcycle trip I checked into a Motel6 in Joplin, MO. When I asked if I could park my bike in a dry area because of a coming storm I was told by the manager Carol Ruhl that I should just check out and park at a drive in bank and stay outside with the bike all night! When I checked out to go to a more accomodating motel she refused to refund my $ and called the police when I refused to leave until I got my $. I will NEVER stay at Motel6 again and recommend that no one on a motorcycle should. We are apparently NOT welcome at Motel6. I have found that the folks at Super8 Motels are very accomodating toward motorcyclists and will give a discount for AMA memebers and provide secure, dry parking areas for your bike.

i stayed at a Super8 motel in farmington, nm one night, the clerk told me to park my bike under the canopy out front so she could keep an eye on it, they had been having some trouble with cars getting broken into and she didn't want my bike to get ripped off, as for Motel6 they did almost the same thing to me in las cruces, nm, they threw me out cause i parked on the sidewalk, like you they didn't want to refund my money but the cops made them. he never said anything but i think the senior officer was a biker.
