I checked my phone before going to work last night to find a message had been left for me. It was my boss from my last job that I left just over a year ago. I had been there for five years. He told me that one of my coworkers that I worked on many a project with had a heart attack at work Thursday and passed away. I knew him very well, the whole group of us had gotten quite close. During the summers we all camped out at least once a month and during the winters we had many group dinners with our families. I had just talked with him a couple of weeks ago and we were planning a camp out for next month. It is just making me reflect on what I am doing. He was one year younger than me. I am going to the service Tuesday for him. How long should a person wait to go back and talk with the others that I worked with? I am sure I is effecting them also.

Got another call from my old boss there. After talking I went out this morning and talked with all the staff I worked with. They were all glad I stopped out. They had already planed a fish fry for this next weekend, now they are going to use it as a celebration of his life. When it is my time I would want those near me to celebrate my life.

Sorry to hear about that FTF I think that if you go to the service you will see other ex-coworkers there and you can judge the best course for handling this at that time.

A quiet understanding, a quiet nod and quiet insurpassable hand on shoulder is enough. Life is not a land that belongs to us we are just given the priviledge to pass through it.

Loren , I'm so sorry! Thats pretty scarey to think it happens to others our age out of the blue. He sounds like a wonderful friend and I know you will miss him greatly. It's hard to say the right thing in this instance but I'm sure your friends would love to hear from you.
