I think part of the problem is delay for approval of posts. What if the posts were listed in order from top to bottom and any post that is waiting for approval shows up in the proper position but the actual text of the post is replaced with some kind of notification that the post is pending approval.
If you could also include when the post will be approved that would be great too.
