Without Honesty there is no relationship. Kindness ok, but communication, compromise, trust,openness,creativity, and side by side, no-one walks in front or behind. Two together.

I agree. Kindness is more a vulnerability of openness rather than a weakness. If it is exploited/abused, then it has the potential of becoming a weakness.

Ah! But the rub is: 1. If you are nice, you may not be able to be totally honest, and 2. If you are totally honest, I think it is impossible to always be nice about it (or at least have the other person think you are being nice about it).

I have to agree with Mick, nice and honest are a contradiction in terms.. How about REAL?? REAL is refreshing, noone should be nice all the time, its phoney and boring and to me its an insult, it says that you are so insecure about what others think of you that you will not allow anyone to know the REAL you!!
Havent you ever been around someone who is nice ALL the time?? No matter what's goin on they are just nice... Im sorry but that just makes me want to hurl!! Much rather be around REAL people who speak thier mind... Im not talking about obnoxious but if a bunch of guys are being disrespectful to your lady and all the guy does is be nice?? He's no man at all!! Real men are only nice when its appropriate!! Good men can get down right nasty when its appropriate too!!
I like to know if I am talking to someone they are nice and honest, It does help. If they are not than I dont want to waste my time on the games. but hey that is just me...
I cant really comprehend why so many people poke at honesty and being nice. Is this all expected from day one?
Don't these things take some time to matter and develop? I know that most of the time I meet new people, I dont give a rat's azz about them knowing "me".
