Ran all of 66 I could find from San Bernadino, Ca. to Santa Fe, New Mexico as part of my trip in '05.
Like has already been said, it is hard to find sometimes, as "progress" has made the Mother Road mostly a memory.
Bagdad Cafe is a must stop. Make time to ride the rim of the Grand Canyon....small side trip, never ending memories.
Also don't miss the oportunity to "stand on the corner in Winslow Arizona", sleep in a cement teepee motel, and do all the other quirky-kitchy Rte 66 things.
I took a copy of "Lets go Roadtripping - USA" by St. Martin's Press with me. It was a dogeared best friend by the end of my 18,000 mile summer long trip.
Most of all, have fun!
