(This will be posted across the boards)
I've read these boards, looked at the idiotic replies, brags & lame statements of some that assume themselves to be bikers. Some are young, some are older, but it makes no difference, so for those of you lacking in the wherewithall, I'll explain it very simply so that even the densest might understand...
Put simply, a biker is who & what you are, not the bike, your penis length, or the size of your breasts, it's where you stand in this world, if you can lose every frigging thing you own, all your toys, your house, your job, your money... BUT, retain your pride, your integrity, your honor & still value your relationships & honest dealings with your brothers & sisters while NEVER selling out.. Then you just might have what it takes!! Enough of the mindless bragging about your bikes or who's ass you might have kicked or how much sex you claim to have had. I want to see the real stand up people, not the posers & RUB's that infect this & other "BIKER" sites. SHOW ME, the real folks, the tramps, the trash, the ones who put the miles down regardless of weather. Who haven't sold their souls out for a buck or a bitch. The ones that are fast disappearing from this world, only to be replaced with the endless posturing, bragging & conformity that I find everywhere these days.. C'Mon People! Show me what y'all have in terms of heart, because personally, I'm not finding it here, much less anywhere else these days. So there's the challenge, show me what you have... FOR REAL, I FREAKING DARE YOU!!!!
(36 years on the road & ain't stopping now)
I'll tell you what. Only a few have written to me. A few who claim to be 'bikers' on their profile. I'll tell you what. Let's put in this way. What I have lived is that you meet someone and instantly you move in together. That's the biker lifestyle. A man knows what he's looking for; he feels that pull to pamper, protect & provide for......like if the guy sees your pics he writes and say he's coming out to meet you. A guy who doesn't put out bull*hit. That's a real biker. and stays your friend 4ever even if you're soulmates.
AMEN TO THE FACT I HAVE NOT SEEN TOO MANY REAL BIKERS ON THIS THING...I JUMPED ON THE BACK OF A 47 KNUCKLE @ AGE 12.. RAN AWAY TO MY LOCAL M/C...& STAYED.. THAT THE ONLY FAMILY I KNOW OF.. THAT MEANS WHAT THE HELL COMES OUT OF THEIR MOUTH..IVE HAVE LIVED OUT OF MY SADDLE BAGS, LOSING EVERYTHING XCEPT MY OLD IRONHEAD..THATS NOT MY DEAL TODAY, HAVE JOB ECT.ID LIKE TO SEE A BIT MORE OLD SCHOOL AROUND, & I DONT MEAN THOSE WANTABE CHOPPERS ON SOFTAILS!! ITS A HEART & RESPECT THING
You're lucky to have that many years of riding behind you. I don't have many, but am looking ahead with excitement and anticipation. Been through hell and back more than once. Lost everything, walked away and started over from the bottom up several times. Raised my children, kept a roof over their heads and never thought twice about, just did it, even if I had to work two jobs at times. Helped friends, took in stray kids now and then but hadn't had the money for my own bike in a long time, somebody else's needs always came first and that's okay.
Have loved motorcycles ever since I was a kid. Even though I don't have 30+ years of riding in (yet), I can always tell, well, you can actually feel it, if they love to ride or not.
When my dad died a few years ago, he left a little piece of property behind to be sold and split up amongst all us kids and his wife. So guess what I bought with my share haha and I know he's totally smiling from the other side.
What is a biker? H*ll I don't know. So can we shut up now and ride?
Hey maybe you will like this then

It doesn?t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart?s longing.
It doesn?t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn?t interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life?s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us to
remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn?t interest me if the story you are telling me
I want to know if you can
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
It doesn?t interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.
It doesn?t interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
and not shrink back.
It doesn?t interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.

You be lookin' for 'real people'.
As has been stated, they have become few and far between.
I'm hard pressed to name many that are in love with riding rather than their bike.
Fewer still are those that can find overwhelming enjoyment despite the worst of circumstance or conditions.
I know a handful of 'real people' that have chosen motorcycles as their life's core.
You can walk into a room, they seldom stand out. Chances are they aren't gonna talk a whole lot. If you're fortunate they might share a story or two. Don't expect tales of daring-do. 'Real people' share adventures they experience while living life. Hold dear those that include you.
There is one thing all these 'real people' have in common.
They love life and live it to its fullest.
The way you are going about it, I doubt you will find 'real people'. What say you kick back, relax and let 'real people' find you. It just might happen, if it's meant to be.
I can honestly say, WERKS FER ME...
(wrenchin' & ridin' 'till the day I die)
The "biker" as I know it is not a dying bred, but they have been diluted by 'new age' bikers. When i started to ride we also had hightech anti theft systems, a chain a padlock and a telephone pole to chain it to!And in those days you always parked it where you could watch itif not there was no guarentee it would be there when yo came back.
These days there are still bikers , but there are lots of biker types also. The weekend warrior! The yuppie with all the Harley gear! Many ride hard and long too! But if you break down on a ride they leave you there! The ones I cut my teeth with, and indeed define what is a biker , they always have your back!
Back then stage 1,2,& 3 were terms that hadn't been invented. If you wanted a faster bike you did it yourself, and risked a voided warrenty! We slept with the bikes in the living room, and rebuilt them in the kitchen , did the wrenching in the winter in the kitchen ,in between hits of speed and beers..Come to think of it I never met anyone back then who could buy a new bike, we bought basket cases and did the wrenching our selves.
I stopped by OC Choppers today to show someone the showroom. It was filled with bikes that you couldn't ride longer than a block or two and people there to buy the OC Chopper t shirts and merchandise...I had to laugh out loud! The movement towards 'novelty' bikes is funny.
It has become soooo comercialized!
But just like everything else, it has changed.I still ride with some 1% ers and I ride with the yuppies too... In fact I will ride wih whoever wants too...I just love the ride... It is with those who truley live to ride though, that is most enjoyable for me...
Ok enough rambling here,
The picture is the way we looked back in the early 70's...Thats me on the right..had a 57 FLH back then...and hair and of course no belly...LOL
Your right about bikers disappering. Whats out there today is some kind of joke. Thats alright in away because it helps me to see the way I will never be and be able to stay my way not what looks good. I can rember a due rag was worn to keep hair and sweet out of you eyes but today its just rubs way of trying to fit in. Will ride alone before I will conform to whats today. Later
what is a biker? (1) has a bike (2) has the heart and soul for adventure,(3) has the belief all things are possible, good freinds,
i dont have alot of miles under my belt, but the rides and rallies i've been to,theres no where on this earth i'd rather be than on a bike, with the sun on my face, wind in my hair, and the gods and goddesses smilin on me with good weather or bad,and in the company of some really good ppl.
you said it all and you said it well.It is about dignity, loyalty ,and being able to laugh at it all, its about staying at your brothers side especially in the hard times, its about who waits with you in the rain when the scooter takes a sh*t ,
my favorite quote:
It doesn't interest me...
"It doesn't interest me what you do for living.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, if you can dance with the wildness and let ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself;
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.
I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty, even when it's not pretty everyday, and if you can source your life from the Divine presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver moon.
"YES!" I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for children.
It doesn't interest me who you are or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shr...
ST, the same can be said of a real cowboy, mountain man, military member, postman, or boy scout. Dignity, respect, and honor are something that should be par for the course, not the exception. I totally agree with you about that, and the fact there are many who are more casual about their integrity. As to your specific dare, however, I have no personal need to prove to you or anyone else that I'm a man or a biker, and based on the lack of male response to your challenge, I'd guess others feel the same. If my words, deeds, and actions heretofore haven't done that already, then no amount of proof will suffice to change your mind anyway. I'll ride with anyone, anywhere, any time, in any weather condition as long as they are being smart. I prefer not to be a dead or dumb biker, and I'm sure my passenger appreciates that too. Below zero wind chill with black ice covered by tire packed snow is not a smart place to be on a bike unless it's an extreme emergency. Anyone who doesn't appreciate that needs to move to a snow state for a while in the middle of winter. Can it be ridden in? Sure, with knowledge, luck, skill, equipment, and experience. Wisest choice you can make? No way. Been there, done that, wouldn't recommend it, and it isn't worth the story you get to tell later, trust me. Point is that being a smart biker is better than being a dead one when it comes to weather.
to SierraThunder, you hit the nail right on the head with your description. I'am not seasoned biker, But I have been around a few and bikers are true people that don't care what other people think or say it is all about what's real and say it like it is and if you can't handle the truth then don't ask the question. Anyway's just wnated to say right on ... there needs to be more true to the heart real people in this world. drop line sometime
yes u right dear i want friendship with u and want bike partner as your , i was ride with my older sister , but now she is married so i am alone and need girlfriend ,some times i bad feel when my sister ride with her husband but its bad for me becuse she is my sister and also married .
babybaby-i just read what you wrote and it gave me chills...you are so right and hit the nail on the head with your words and thoughts........hopefully alot of people will read what you wrote so they will understand that due to our prior comments in life with our loved one, we did but our lives on hold out of love, but now the time has come for us to start living our lives with a vengence........everyone watch out, we are all coming back full force.....
